This one may be harder than most... an update in a little while may clarify things a bit.
Updated with below shot.

Is it just me or does that thing have the gearbox in front of the engine? Looks like it does, and it looks like it's from the twenties/thirties... Not that many FWD cars with what looks like a Straight-8 I'd think. I can't answer it though, not without cheating, but I have a suspicion.

You are correct: it's not that easy to see from this perspective, but the large hubs are another giveaway. Update with the gearbox from below coming in a minute.

No need for an update, I know that curved front axle/beam. But I REALLY don't want to give away the answer, is there a way I can send the answer so JUST you can see it?
Edit: we're talking about one of these right?
Edit 2: Removed picture.

I don't think there really is one - private messages have been AWOL since the 4.0-5.0 transition here, I think. If you'd like to "guess", go ahead, and you'll get credit if right, with the cheating caveat. Nobody else has even really given it a stab. Maybe the best option would be waiting another ten or so, and then putting down your cards on it - you seem to be the most successful with 20s/30s abominations so far anyway, and you definitely knew what to look for/spot.

I was going to refuse to answer you for a few minutes and propose that as a way to leave it floating, but since you have the pic- yes. Remaining unnamed in case somebody digs this far into the comment tree.

Look at my previous post, look at the picture.. If they can reverse search that picture they can to the same with the others. I think I'll refrain from answering on these things from now on.
I don't cheat, I just have WAY to much time on my hands. I thought I would need tho cheat, until you posted that picture of the front axle/beam.

I always at a minimum crop the picture to a different size and upload from local. Still makes it possible to GIS, likely, but more of a crapshoot.
I believe you that you don't have to cheat - if I can make these things, there's going to be someone out there that can reliably get them/knows how to look at what's presented and also has a perverse bent toward unusual drivetrains. Lately that seems to be you. I'm very careful never to post one of these that doesn't have at least one defining feature, and if that feature is correctly ID'ed, the rest is process solving.

Wink wink. I'll credit you in a few minutes with proper porn of said car in question.

I think I've just been lucky with timing and such (well, and the fact that I'm a HUGE nerd when it comes to odd stuff in the automotive industry). I've removed my picture. Let's see if anyone else know what it is :)

I've got to say, a front De Dion axle and transaxle (not just short-coupled diff/trans) is a pretty defining feature. That, and anybody who thought it could be a Citroen TA would be an (Ren and Stimpy voice) EEEEEEDIOT, because the frame rails are pretty plainly a full-frame gig.

Hehe... yeah.. But this IS a VERY obscure car though, I only know about it because I have a thing for another car from the twenties/thirties with a somewhat similar setup (only not that similar at all, but.. yeah)

For the "anybody but you" class of people, I'd have permitted a brief bout of Google cheating based on "full frame with front transaxle? WTF?!"
The cheating/non-cheating standards are higher for you. Harrison Bergeron principle.

I must admit that I had to cheat and google Harrison Bergeron.. I have some reading to do I see.

Ok, I don't see a guess yet, and since I never saw the picture that has been removed, I'm going to go ahead with my guess. Pretty sure it's a Cord. Being that vintage and fwd led me to this.

Close. Vintage and FWD is correct, but it's a much closer-coupled system than a Cord. It is in fact a Ruxton.

I posted the update, but never got around to tweaking this post accordingly.
